Aellora SureFire UV, white ink for B&W Fine Art exhibitsAellora was best known for high quality UV-curable inkjet printing with while ink. Of course, what you defined as high-quality back in 2002-2003. The output was comparable to the quality of the Mimaki UV-cured inkjet flatbed printers. One reason for the image quality of both printers was keeping the print mode in uni-directional mode. Professor Nicholas Hellmuth explains in the FLAAR Reports why this is better than bi-directional mode. Recently, the Gandy Digital Pred8tor prints in uni-directional. The Pred8tor has only one industrial-sized UV lamp. You might think one lamp is not enough, but at SGIA 2011, the Pred8tor was curing with the lamp at 20% strength. Since Aellora was one of the references in white ink chemistry, they expanded into the other ink colors. The Aellora SureFire UV was a starter digital printing system to print small labels, plaques, and anything where your logo needs to look nice. The company was owned by a larger corporation called Markem. Aellora went out of business circa 2005. If Markem is the same as Markem-Imaje, then now the company is focused only on labeling and coding equipment and has totally abandoned the inkjet line of printers. We show samples of Aellora printing in the FLAAR Reports on white ink.
Aellora SureFire TKMP1000 UV-cured flatbed printer for photo-realistic colorAt ISA 2006 Aellora unveiled its SureFire TKMP1000. The quality is close to photo-realistic and the output is relatively fast for such quality. Previously the only way to achieve good output with UV-curing inkjet technology was with the Mimaki UJF-605c flatbed printer, and UJF-605R roll-to-roll printer printers. But now (2012) you can achieve even higher quality with lots of other UV-curing models. If you need high quality at larger sizes, look at the JETRIX flatbed printers.
