Eastech Scutum UV8720s, Eastech Scutum UV6440S flatbed UV-curable ink printer Eastech is an established Taiwan company that has exhibited for many years now at US trade shows. Eastech was also present at DRUPA and at Photokina 2004, showing they are ahead of Chinese and Korean companies that did not make it to either trade show. Eastech also exhibited their Scutum UV6440S printer at SGIA ’04 trade show in Minneapolis. But during 2005, Eastech concentrated itself on the German market, and for about a year no longer exhibited at US trade shows. We inspected the Eastech Scutum UV8720s, and Eastech Scutum UV6440S at FESPA '05 in Munich during June and in a Reed Exhibitions show in Duesseldorf in October '05. In late 2006 and 2007 Eastech returned to exhibiting in the US, but no longer with UV-cured ink printers. What we saw at FESPA '07 in Berlin at the Eastech booth was quite impressive: their flatbed printer does indeed print on all kinds of materials. The question is what priming coat is required first. FLAAR has been invited to Taiwan and Thailand to inspect their new non-UV inks but it when we arrived in Taipei it was not feasible to inspect the Eastech office, so instead I spent a week inspecting the GCC factory, R&D department, demo room, etc. As a result there are updated reports on the GCC StellarJet 250 and GCC StellarJet 183UV. The next week it was possible to spend several days at the Dilli UV printer factory in Korea: this resulted in three new reports: Dilli Neo Titan, Dilli Neo Venus, and Dilli Neo Plus. It was also possible to take notes on the dedicated Dilli flatbed printer, the Neo Deluxe (but there is no report on this model yet). If it ever becomes possible to visit the new Eastech factory in Thailand, and their offices in Taipei, it will be possible to update our reports on their non-UV-cured inks.
Eastech Scutum UV printers It is hard to distinguish one model of the Eastech UV printers from another, so FLAAR now offers an introductory report on the Eastech Octra UV 8720e, Eastech Octra UV 6440e roll to roll, UV curable ink flatbed printer, Eastech Scutum UV8720s, and Eastech Scutum UV6440S. For about a year Eastech printers were rebranded by Graphics One, as the GO Fuzion. But this printer was withdrawn and is no longer offered by Graphics One.
