Anhui Liyu Lyric solvent ink printers Lyric is the brand name for printers manufactured by Anhui LIYU Computer Equipment Manufacturing Co • Lyric PH18/188 • Lyric PH25/258 • Lyric PH328 • Lyric PC1808 / 1812 • Lyric PG2508 / 2512 • Lyric PG3208 / 3212 There is also a PM Series, Mars series, XL of Lyric solvent ink printers from Anhui Liyu. Now (in 2008) there are even more models, as is typical of Chinese manufacturers. Note that Japanese companies, such as Seiko, Mimaki, and Mutoh, concentrate on just a few models. One result is that Mimaki, Mutoh, and Roland solvent printers are still selling well around the world, even when Chinese printers are cheaper. The only Chinese solvent printers that sell well in Latin America and in the US are those from Infiniti. I have never seen any Anhui Liyu Lyric printer in any US or Guatemalan printshop, nor in Europe (obviously they exist, but they are not in any printshop I have visited so far). Superficially the Mars series of Lyric printers look somewhat like the Flex-Europa E-Jet printers, but the Flex-Europa printers appear to be manufactured by a different company. Seemingly Chinese companies even copy from one another. In the US manufacturers are required to identify the origin of the machinery inside their products, based on a case where Cadillac cars had a Chevy GM engine. A Cadillac owner sued, saying he paid for a Cadillac, not a Chevy, and demanded a “Cadillac” engine. He won the lawsuit. But since most print shop owners don’t know one brand of Chinese printer from another, no one understands the difference between one brand and another. So no one plans to sue. Due to the confusion, of not knowing which printer is inside the machine you buy, our research institute is trying to provide guides. For example, a printer sold by one company in the US is actually sold from Taiwan. But the Taiwan company is actually buying a chassis from a company in Japan. So by the time this printer lands in Texas or Maine, or wherever you are located, do you know where to really find spare parts? Printers manufactured in Mainland China are covered in the FLAAR Reports on Chinese solvent ink printers. This annotated list will at least get you started. We have a comparable list for printers manufactured in Korea. Most recently updated May 5, 2008. |
