Encres Dubuit UV-cured ink for flatbed UV printers Print

Encres Dubuit is a company that has been around for over 40 years. Although I have not been at their ink factory, demo room, or company offices, I doubt their ink comes from China.

Encres Dubuit offers UV EDN ink for NUR, Scitex, VUTEk, Zund, Durst, and Inca. The original ink for Inca is Sericol. The original ink for VUTEk is supposedly their own InkWare. Durst uses UV ink from Sun. Now that NUR is part of HP perhaps they will start using the South African ink

from that factory that Scitex Vision owned and thus that is now part of HP.

At FESPA Digital all the samples of their UV ink prints were matte (a polite way of saying dull). If you compare that ink with what DuPont used to display, the DuPont ink was so much brighter, more colorful, more satin finish (less dull; the DuPont Cromaprint 22uv ink was not really from DuPont itself, it is generally considered to have been from Triangle). So until it is possible to do a project to learn if with a different brand of UV printer or different material, that the output with Encres Dubuit will have more saturation and pop.

Because I have not visited their company headquarters, I am not familiar with the solvent, eco-solvent, mild-solvent, lite-solvent of Encres Dubuit. There are too many other ink companies at trade shows, and not enough time to visit them all.

Other options for alternative, after-market, 3-party UV-curable and solvent inks

The alternative inks I know the best are based on having been invited to visit their factories and demo rooms:

FLAAR is offering personalized consulting at each trade show. You can walk-the-floor with the Senior Editor of FLAAR and get his comments on any and all printers, inks, RIP software, color management, substrates, applications, etc.

So if you wish to learn about the difference between combo, hybrid, and dedicated UV printers, how latex ink compares, about textile printers, etc. contact FLAAR to obtain consulting.

You can also get consulting before ISA or FESPA anywhere in the world: Dubai, India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, China, Korea, London and more.

Alternative inks

Sepiax Ink Technology offers a water-based alternative for solvent ink that works in piezo printheads.

HP offers their latex water-based ink to get away from VOCs and terrible smell of solvent inks.
