Durst launches Rho 600 Pictor as a compact version of Durst Rho 600
Here is Nicholas Hellmuth with some samples printed by the Durst Rho 600 Pictor UV.

The Durst Rho 600 Pictor was launched at FESPA Digital trade show in mid-May 2006. This is a compact version of the popular Durst Rho 600.

The market is heating up for professional-level UV printers that cost under $200,000. A number of years ago, a very popular alternative was the HP Scitex FB700. However, everybody in the industry knows Durst for its state-of-the-art engineering and printing quality. Of course, this means that having a Durst printer is having a very expensive machine.

Printer Specs

The Durst Rho Pictor is based on a conveyor belt, which means it can handle both rigid and flexible materials up to 62 inches (1.6 m) wide and 1.58 inches (40mm) thick. It comes in CMYK, but White and varnish and spot colors are available options. The difference between this Rho 600 Pictor and other bigger Durst printers such as the Rho 1000, is that the Rho Pictor does not come with light colors.

Even when the HP Scitex FB700 (then calledColorSpan 9840) was only a few weeks old, FLAAR already had a full report available. This is because MacDermid opened their factory the week before the printer was shown to the public. Under a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) we could inspect the printer inside and out, and do sample printing, hour after hour.

Then, the same hour the printer was unveiled in Amsterdam, the NDA was waived (once the printer was public) so we unveiled the FLAAR Report the first day of the show. Otherwise, with other printers, it can take several months to get a FLAAR Report finished.

Based on our visiting the Durst headquarters about 9 times, both in Austria and Italy, we have published a number of reports on the Durst printers: the Rho 800, the Rho 700, and the Rho 351R, all of which can be found in this link.

Besides, we have available reports on 63 other UV printers of over 36 different brands, all downloadable from our FLAAR Reports site, www.wide-format-printers.NET. For example, both our reports on the IP&I Cube 260uv and IP&I 1606 have been updated, based on two days in the IP&I factory plus one day inspecting two printshops with the IP&I Cube 260uv in action.

So far we have not found a Durst Rho 600 Pictor UV printer nearby nor has it been possible to get to the Durst factory, so we continue with those other printer brands where access is easier. In October FLAAR will be at the VUTEk factory and demo room for the fourth time.
