Roland AdvancedJet AJ-1000 solvent ink printer Print

The Roland AdvancedJet AJ-1000 solvent ink printer has now been shown to the public and Nicholas Hellmuth was there in the Dubai Middle East sign trade show to take notes.

Yes, FLAAR personnel travel the world to bring back information. Indeed three FLAAR staff were at Graphics of the Americas the days immediately before the Dubai trade show in far away United Arab Emirates (Dubai is south of Iraq and a few kilometers to one side of Iran).

The AdvancedJet AJ-1000 is Roland’s first answer to the combination of Hewlett-Packard’s marketing clout and Seiko’s best selling ColorPainter solvent printers. The new results are the HP Designjet 8000s and the HP Designjet 9000s. So Roland brought out its AdvancedJet AJ-1000 solvent ink printer. Mimaki has countered with their Mimaki JV33-120 and JV33-160.

Roland has also come out with their Roland SolJet Pro III Print & Cut XC-540.

Roland has more in store, so the Roland AdvancedJet AJ-1000 solvent ink printer was only the first reaction. The second new printer is the Roland AdvancedJet AJ-740. The goal is for Roland to get away from depending so heavily on Epson printheads. The reason Roland wants to switch to other printheads is because Epson is coming out with its own Epson eco-solvent printer.

Now that Roland has reacted to HP with a new Advanced Jet printer Mimaki has responded with their “JV5” to update the Mimaki JV3.
