Laminating EquipmentWe prefer to laminate and use laminating equipment, but you can save big bucks by not needing to laminate your large format prints. How to avoid having to pay for an expensive laminating machine? One of the most frequent questions that comes in to us is about laminating.
"I need to buy a large format printer but can't afford also to pay for laminating equipment at the same time. How can I do outdoor signs with no laminator?" "I have heard about inkjet media that requires no laminating, where can I get more information?" "I want to buy an Epson large format printer. How can I put my prints outdoors or even in a sunny room?" "I do bus stop advertising. How to I create a grafitti-proof surface for my signs?" "If I maybe want a laminator later on, but don't want to bankrupt my company, where can I get a laminator at a reasonable cost?" Naturally we need to know what large format printers you are considering buying (yes, you can write and ask now, before you even have your printer). If you already have a printer, then indicate what you use it for (signs, banners, posters, backlit, fleet graphics, etc.). The FLAAR Digital Imaging Technology Center will do its best to answer you personally within 3 days. If you don't hear back within 5 days, just send a reminder. If your question is a bit outside our area of expertise, we will forward your e-mail to the appropriate people that we have contacted at the trade shows, specialists in media, inks, lamination, printing, printers, etc. At each new trade show we take all the key questions that have arrived and we go to the pertinent booths to ask the techs there what equipment, media, software, or accessories are needed by the people sending in the questions. That way you can get the information for you from a variety of sources. If you really want technical details on inkjet media, and especially if you wish to meet the movers and shakers in this industry, be sure to sign up for the 9th Annual Digital Printing Papers Conference organized by IMI. If you really want technical details on inkjet media, inks, and/or inkjet printhead technology, and especially if you wish to meet the movers and shakers in this industry, be sure to sign up for the next conference organized by IMI. Their web site is http://imi.maine.com, contact is imi@tdstelme.net. These seminars are outstanding; the senior review editor of FLAAR usually attends because he can get so much fresh information for the readers of the FLAAR Reports in PDF format and the FLAAR Information Network of web sites.
