Is Seybold San Francisco 2003 or 2004 a viable tradeshow? Actually Seybold San Francisco 2002 was chosen by Hewlett-Packard to introduce their DesignJet 5500 and by Roland to introduce their Pro II series. Otherwise, Seybold East (Boston and then New York) collapsed already. If Seybold 2003 appears to survive and if there is a Seybold San Francisco 2004 we will update this report.

SGIA DPI 2003 and ‘04, ISA 2003 and ‘04, Graphics of the Americas 2003 and ‘04, PMA 2003 and ’04, PhotoPlus 2003 and ’04 are all viable.

Photokina 2004 and DRUPA 2004 are both solid. FLAAR has its European office in Cologne, so attending Photokina every two years is easy. Duesseldorf is actually only a few miles away, so DRUPA 2004 is not that far away. We spent nine days checking out printers at DRUPA 2000.

IPEX was so-so. Regrettably missed FESPA 2002 but did get to SGIA where most of the same printers were presented.

Evaluations and comparisons among the various tradeshows (Which tradeshow is worth attending to?) is provided in the FLAAR Report on tradeshows.

You can look forward to expert advice based on practical experience. FLAAR senior editor has attended DRUPA, Photokina, CeBIT, IPEX, Comdex, Seybold San Francisco, ISA, SGIA, PhotoPlus Expo, PMA, Graphics of the Americas, and B.I.G. (Best in Graphics), BigPicture Show, DPI when those tradeshow lecture programs still existed.

Just send the Inquiry-Survey form to the FLAAR staff and they will send you back the pertinent FLAAR reports within 48 hours in convenient Adobe Acrobat PDF download format.

Most of our updates for summer 2008 onward are in FLAAR Reports in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. It is more efficient for us to make new information available in PDF format. So if the web page itself is not updated, check out www.wide-format-printers.NET to see if the printer, RIP, or other subject is covered in an update in a PDF download.
