IJ Technologies:

We have tried out lots of wide format inkjet media over the last two years; our recommended media source for large format inkjet printers is IJ Technologies sfour Hewlett-Packard DesignJet printers, a ColorSpan DisplayMaker XII, an Epson 7500, and are looking forward to an I-JET (Mutoh) which has many advantages over Epson printers.

IJ Technologies produces all kinds of innovative media for large format printers. My favorite is the IJ Technologies wide format paper that you can hang in the rain (they picture it in a shower, with the water running on it).

We go to all the trade shows to search for the best media. Very hard to find anything for the Epson 7500 due to its bizarre inks.

If you really want technical details on inkjet media, and especially if you wish to meet the movers and
shakers in this industry, be sure to sign up for the 9th Annual Digital Printing Papers Conference organized by IMI. If you really want technical details on inkjet media, inks, and/or inkjet printhead technology, and especially if you wish to meet the movers and shakers in this industry, be sure to sign up for the next conference organized by IMI. Their web site is http://imi.maine.com, contact is imi@tdstelme.net. These seminars are outstanding; the senior review editor of FLAAR usually attends because he can get so much fresh information for the readers of the FLAAR Reports in PDF format and the FLAAR Information Network of web sites

Bowling Green State University to hold up a fresh print from the HP 5000ps, using a new media from IJ TechnologiesIts always easier to find media for printers which use thermal printheads (such as for Graphtec (Western Graphtec), HP DesignJet, Encad NovaJet, and ColorSpan printers). We use media from Rexam and a variety of sources, but have found that IJ Technologies offers many media that have become popular with the staff who do the evaluations at our university.

Lisa and Carley brave the deep refrigeration of the computer labs at Bowling Green State University to hold up a fresh print from the HP 5000ps, using a new media from IJ Technologies. This is DG Polyart SS, one of their Duragraphix series, fade and water resistant media. Everyone at the university who has picked up this media comments on its nice feel. It's also lightweight and survives creases and bends more than finicky media from other companies.

If you are unsure which report is best for you, just explain what you intend to print, whether this is for commercial use or in a small fledging business, whether you are new to this or already have another inkjet printer, and so on. This way our staff can judge which FLAAR reports are most appropriate for you.
