Spitfire 100 Extreme added to Spitfire 65 Extreme, Spitfire 90 Extreme

The FLAAR Reports on the Spitfire 65 Extreme and Spitfire 90 Extreme are available at no cost, so this web page can be short (our report is free so that you can sample the results of spending a week at the Mutoh Europe factory evaluating this printer).

Now there is also a Spitfire 100 Extreme. I will be back at the Mutoh factory as soon as I can fit it into my schedule to study this new model in more detail. At that point the report will be updated. But the current version already has plenty of information on the Spitfire 65 Extreme and Spitfire 90 Extreme.

Alternative Printers for cost and price comparisons

Buying a printer on the basis of cost and price comparisons is popular, but may result in getting a cheap printer. For example, The Mutoh Extreme printers are among the few with Intelligent Interweaving. If you buy a cheaper other brand, you may get banding defects.

But for a quick survey, here are a few of the other 100-104 inch mild-solvent, eco-solvent and lite-solvent printers available from reputable manufacturers. These are often informally classified as stretch models because they are wider versions of entry-level printers:

ColorSpan 98SI, 98.5 inches (not really a current model)

Mimaki JV3-250SPF, 100.3 inches, 2.55 meters

Mimaki JV5-320S

Mutoh Osprey, 103 inches, 2.612 meters

Mutoh Spitfire 100 , 102 inches, 2.60 meters

Roland SOLJET Pro II SJ-1000EX, 104 inches

Roland SOLJET Pro II V SJ-1045

Roland AdvancedJet AJ-1000 (new as of February 2006)

Most of our updates for 2008 onward are in FLAAR Reports in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. It is more efficient for us to make new information available in PDF format. So if the web page itself is not updated, check out www.wide-format-printers.NET to see if the printer, RIP, or other subject is covered in an update in a PDF download.

Any problem with this site please report it to webmaster, or if you note any error, omission, or have a different opinion on a review, please contact the review editor, ReaderService@FLAAR.org, or find out how to meet Nicholas Hellmuth and speak with him personally. © 2001-2008 FLAAR
