Seiko ColorPainter V-64s, a reasonable priced bargain value solvent printer

At ISA trade show, April 2009, Seiko I Infotech Inc (SIIT) launched their new value performance ColorPainer V-74s solvent printer.

This new ColorPainter V-64s is for franchise sign shops, printshops, and anyone who wants to upgrade from an old HP Designjet 8000s, HP Designjet 9000s or earlier Seiko ColorPainter 64S.

The Seiko ColorPainter V-64s is competition for the Mutoh ValueJet, for the Roland VersaArt RS-640 and Roland VerasaArt RS-540, and for the Mimaki JV33-160 or JV33-130 solvent printers.

Hewlett-Packard has abandoned trying to offer any eco-solvent, mild- or lite solvent, bio-solvent, or comparable solvent printer, and has moved to latex ink printers.

Seiko is best known for the brilliant saturated colors of its inks, here the EG-Outdoor EX mild solvent ink.

The Seiko ColorPainter V-64s printer reviews

By 2003, Chinese solvent printers had filled ISA, SGIA, and Graphics of the Americas trade show booths in these years. But unfortunately most brands were not sturdy enough and tech support and spare parts were hard to get. So most Chinese solvent printer manufacturers pulled out. Every year another brand bravely trys to enter the US market, but few last more than a year or so (Infiniti has survived mainly by selling into Latin America).

To counter the low-bid Chinese solvent printers Mutoh came out with its ValueJet. Mimaki came out with its JV33-160 and Mimaki JV33-130 solvent printers. More recently Roland launched the VersaArt RS-540 and Roland VersaArt RS-640.

Now Seiko has launched its economy model. But instead of going low-bid, Seiko instead provides value, tech support back-up, spare parts (when needed) and know-how from local American distributors across the USA (and around the world).

The crucial difference is that Seiko has available resources via its family corporate member Epson. So the ink for the Seiko ColorPainter V-64s is different (and improved) over inks available for some competing printers.
