After seeing desktop-sized Sprin printers for about two years at ISA and SGIA trade shows, I was surprised to see wide format Sprin printers at SGIA 2005. Not all the printers had labels, so it was hard to know what models I was looking at. But Kwangko System makes

Unfortunately Sprin did not last long in the US; their printers looked like cheap Chinese-made imports. I did not see any more wide-format Sprin printers in American trade shows during 2007.
D.G.I. is a completely different kind of solvent printer manufacturing company: D.G.I. solvent printers are designed and manufactured in Korea, and are not copies of anything from China. I have been to the D.G.I. R&D facilities and their new factory in Korea: very impressive.

Sprin, along with D.G.I., is one of the last companies to make an oil-based printer. Seiko dropped their oil-based printer long ago. XES went out of business trying to promote its oil-based ColorgrafX X2 as photo-realistic. D.G.I. still makes an oil-based printer in Korea.
